The Guidelines on Criteria and Standards contains guidelines on learning outcomes, course design and other important criteria in developing the curriculum for a course of study. The criteria and standard in the Guidelines refer to the specific criteria of the courses of study in five fields, which are:

Hospitality, Tourism and Culinary Arts

Art & Design

Performing Arts

Media Studies & Communication

Secretaryship

For further details relating to criteria and standards, reference can be made to the following documents:

The Guidelines on Criteria and Standards on PHEI Courses of Study by Lembaga Akreditasi Negara, June 2002 Edition .

The Code of Practice for Quality Assurance in Public Institutions of Higher Learning by Quality Assurance Division, Department of Higher Education, May 2002 Edition .

We would like to state that these criteria and standards are not absolute and prescriptive. Institutions of higher learning should use it as a guideline for developing the curricula in their courses of study. As such, this guideline will ensure that there is room for creativity and innovation to suit the objectives of the course of study and the institution’s mission.
